I’ve got tons of things to be excited about!
But that five-hour long Physics class I must endure every Friday clearly isn’t one. I did love Physics when I was in high school, but a huge chunk of that love was all because of the teacher. All I can do now is hope that my professor wouldn’t fill those five hours with dragging explanations about numbers and equations that only he could understand. I’d choose the terror over the boring ones in a heartbeat.
I’m not particularly excited about learning Table Tennis too. Dear self, please keep in mind that you already had a hard time hitting volleyballs, and now you want to try hitting those barely seen tennis balls too? Get ready to embarrass yourself in public. Good luck and lots of love, Aya. Addressing myself because I did choose my PE but whatever, I’d suck in anything that involves physical activity anyway.
I might start commuting to school everyday now too, but I still haven’t decided if that’s something to be excited about.

To all new followers, and to those who’ve been loyal/indifferent enough to put up with my egoistic blog, hello! I figured it was time to properly introduce myself, since I haven’t done so in the past two years I’ve been (pseudo)blogging.

I was actually christened as Alyanna Riezel, but I go by Aya, a nickname I made for myself circa 2008. Back then I was a high school sophomore with an unhealthy obsession for everything Japanese. Four years later, that obsession has somewhat subsided but the nickname stuck, and I’m glad it did.

I’ve been eighteen for almost four months now and to tell you the truth, legality is nothing but overrated. Nothing much has changed except that if I had done a serious crime, like felony or something, I could be arrested and imprisoned. Not that I’m doing anything prison-worthy but really, minors have it good. I may buy cigarettes and booze in the nearest convenience stores now too, except that I’m not actually fond of those.

I’m an incoming college sophomore majoring in Architecture, and I haven’t had any thoughts of studying otherwise. You’d know everything that interests me in this blog. Enjoy!

“A mother’s love for her child is like nothing else in the world. It knows no law, no pity. It dares all things and crushes down remorselessly all that stands in its path.” —Agatha Christie
Hey mom, since it’s your day, I’d gladly wash the dishes tonight, no matter how I hate doing it and how big the mounted pile of dirty dishes in the sink is. Without whining, I promise!
It would be my pleasure, and that’s my little gift for you. Good enough? Don’t worry, I’ll get you something nice when I’m old and loaded. Can’t wait for that day! Hihi. Loff you.

In all honesty, I am not happy at all with our yearbook cover. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t have anything against having Jesus in the cover (uhh, not really) but duh, the colors just don’t look right. It’s only me though, I guess. I’m just going to leave my face there. My future kids will have a good laugh, I’m sure of it.

I was leafing through the pages of my yearbook again last night because god, I miss my high school friends, when suddenly my sister said:

“Parang artista search.”

Does it now, people? Ha! Anyway, I’d give up anything to be in high school again.

As what this picture obviously suggests, my little sister has finally graduated from high school! Congratulations! Here’s an inspirational quote from David Nicholls’s One Day in case your vision of the future is still no clearer than mine.

“What are you going to do with your life?” In one way or another it seemed that people had been asking her this forever; teachers, her parents, friends at three in the morning, but the question had never seemed this pressing and still she was no nearer an answer… ‘Live each day as if it’s your last’, that was the conventional advice, but really, who had the energy for that? What if it rained or you felt a bit glandy? It just wasn’t practical. Better by far to be good and courageous and bold and to make difference. Not change the world exactly, but the bit around you. Cherish your friends, stay true to your principles, live passionately and fully and well. Experience new things. Love and be loved, if you ever get the chance.

In the meantime, let’s just waste our time on the internet and immerse ourselves in books while sipping coffee because we clearly have a lot of time in our hands. Ha! Kidding aside, I wish you all the best in college!
Again, congratulations girl!

I finally got to see my grades. Yeah well, my first semester grade is unmistakably higher but at least I’m still going to make it to the Dean’s list! Hurrah! Yes, big deal.
I wish I could say, “See you next semester, blockmates!” or something but the thing is the tuition’s too high, just too high! I’m not sure if I could still continue my studies in UST, well that is unless I get a scholarship. I’m going to apply for that on May, I think.
My other choice is to transfer to UP Diliman. Their passing rate in the Architecture Board Exam is 100%, for God’s sake! I wish I could make it though honestly, I’d really like to graduate in UST. Yeah.
Where’s the best school to study architecture anyway?

To make up for my lack of blog posts, here are cropped pictures of myself smiling awkwardly while playing Uno, one of the few card games I learned this past year. (Credits to Kayler Monta) Am I missed? No? Okay.
Anyway, allow me to call this as my “Bored as fuck, Tumblr I’m back” (What? They rhyme! Sorry) blog entry in which I briefly assess my first year in college.
I love Architecture, despite all of the all-nighters I pulled making plates and stuff. I love Design. I love rendering and perspective drawings. Hell, I even love all the minor subjects that go with this course, except I don’t. Haha! No second thoughts.
Incidentally, I love Graphic Design too. Being a part of the Creatives Team was just one of the many things that made this year exceptional! I enjoyed every hour I spent on making posters and tarpaulins for the events of the student council. Seeing my work in print felt amazing!
The University of Santo Tomas turned out to be a wonderful, wonderful university. Need I say more? *cue UST hymn* Ha!
I couldn’t imagine my first year in college in a different block. I love these people forever! Future architects, these people are.
In a nutshell, my first year in college was everything I hoped for and more. First time ever in my whole existence that I’m not a wee bit excited for the summer vacation. I’d rather attend classes, yes.
I hope you all had a great school year.

First time in my college life that I wasn’t able to take my practical tests in PE. How can I not cut classes when Franco’s playing live in our building!!! Plus I didn’t have to pay a cent!!!
(Pardon my overuse of exclamation points. IT WAS JUST SO INTENSE.)
Yes, yes, yes. Franco played during the awarding ceremony of our college week. Isn’t our student council amazing? Just look how close I was to the stage (the arrow’s pointed at me)! And God, I couldn’t hear a thing afterwards but it was fine. They played:

Plus I have a picture with every single one of them! (Except Buwi because he wasn’t there.) Franco and Gabby had their arms on my shoulders and I was dying inside oh God. Cutting classes has never been this good.
